Prof. Yeong-Shiau Pu is awarded JUA Honorary Membership.
Dr. Yeong-Shiau Pu (蒲永孝), a world-renowned specialist in prostate cancer and professor at the Graduate Institute of Medical Medicine, NTU’s College of Medicine, was awarded the Honorary Membership by the Japanese Urological Association (JUA) this year. The award was presented to honor Dr. Pu for promoting the exchanges and collaborations in urology between Taiwan and Japan, as well as his contributions to urologic oncology. Dr. Pu was invited to deliver a keynote speech and receive the honor at the 2019 Annual Meeting at Nagoya, Japan. The JUA has a membership of over 8,000, and around 6,000 members attended the annual meeting. The honorary membership is a rare honor, as Dr. Pu was the only member who had received the award this year.
Dr. Pu has dedicated his academic career to clinical research and related studies on urologic oncology. Besides publishing numerous crucial papers in internationally prestigious journals, Dr. Pu has headed joint academic collaborations between Taiwan and multiple international research centers. He is also the president of the Taiwan Urology Association (TUA) and the former director of NTU Hospital’s Department of Urology.
