Updated Epidemic Prevention Measures for Confirmed Cases and the Contacts

In response to the recently confirmed COVID-19 cases on campus, NTU has taken swift disinfection measures and conducted contact tracing. Due to the raging of the pandemic and the adjusted regulations announced by the Ministry of Education (MOE), the latest NTU COVID-19 prevention measures are listed below.

If you are listed as a confirmed case, close contact, or casual contact, please take the following measures.

1. Individuals tested positive for COVID-19: Please take isolation measures and stay home during the 7-day self-health management period.
2. Possible close contacts of a positive case: The university will conduct the PCR tests as soon as possible for individuals having had contact with a confirmed case for more than 15 minutes, without face mask on, under the following circumstances, such as living, dining, participating in activities together, at a workplace or campus, a medical facility, or on public transportation. The investigation period starts from four days before the onset of the symptoms of the confirmed case until the day of quarantine.
3. ”Possible close contacts” can be classified as “l(fā)isted by the health authorities” and “not listed by the health authorities”:
   1) Listed as contact by the health authorities: Please complete the 10-day home isolation and the 7-day self-health management periods.
   2) Not Listed as contact by the health authorities: Please follow the measure for the casual contacts and take a rapid antigen test before returning to school or work.
4. Casual contacts: Those who have been close to a confirmed case who the casual contacts had been with in the same class, school club activities, dormitories, or on transportation. From the day after the confirmed case is reported, a casual contact should temporarily work from home or take online classes for 3 days to conduct self-health monitoring. At the end of the three-day period, those who have not been quarantined by the government can resume normal work and classes.

As the epidemic continues to spread, there are already several confirmed students and close contacts in our University. If there are students who are in the aforementioned situation such as isolation or self-health monitoring, please record digital courses or provide distance teaching for them to ensure that these students’ learning rights can be kept intact without being interrupted by the epidemic.

During the pandemic period, please try to take out food and drinks when dining. If you need to dine indoors, please keep an appropriate social distance.

Please be reminded that it is prudent to avoid person-to-person contact, to wear a mask at all times when you go out, wash your hands frequently, and be on alert for suspected symptoms: fever, respiratory complications, diarrhea, or loss of smell or taste. If any one of these symptoms develops, please wear a medical mask and seek medical attention immediately at a nearby hospital for COVID-19 testing and refrain from using any public transportation. When in the hospital for treatment, please inform the physician of your contact and travel history, potential occupational exposure to the virus, as well as anyone around you with similar symptoms. When you return home, please continue to wear a medical mask and avoid making any unnecessary trips.
