The rapid shifts in global climate have had profound impacts on the environment and sustainable development. Among the key strategies to address this crisis are stable and efficient green energy supply and geological carbon sequestration, both of which rely on detailed and comprehensive subsurface geological information as their foundation.
To that end, NTU established the “Science and Technology Research Institute for DE-Carbonization” (STRIDE-C) two years ago to facilitate the development of geothermal energy and geological carbon sequestration technologies. Thanks to the generous support from our generous business leaders, this follow-up "Next-Generation Smart 3D Geospatial Information Center" construction project has been made possible. This center will integrate various resources and technologies to establish a research hub specializing in the collection, analysis, and value-added applications of 3D geospatial information.
On November 21, 2024, NTU held a grand signing ceremony for the donation agreement of the center, which will not only leverage the university's robust R&D capabilities and industry-academia collaborations but also apply artificial intelligence to digitally process and deeply analyze 3D geospatial information and resources. This effort will provide significant support for Taiwan's net-zero emissions target, accelerating progress toward a sustainable future.
The donors of this project are as follows: Team Engineering Consulting Ltd., JJP Architects & Planners, RUENTEX Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd., Fu Tsu Construction, DACIN Construction Co. Ltd., Tasa Construction Corporation, and United Integrated Services.
NTU extends its heartfelt gratitude to all supporters and participants. This signing ceremony symbolizes a deepened partnership between academia and industry and marks a crucial milestone in advancing sustainability. Through the establishment of the Next-Generation Smart 3D Geospatial Information Center, NTU aims to drive breakthroughs in geothermal energy development, carbon sequestration, and the digitization of geospatial resources, helping Taiwan achieve its vision of green energy transformation and net-zero emissions.
